Food Poisoning?
Well, here's a story. A day or two ago (can't remember) DF went to a local taco wagon to get some tacos...you know the place; big silver van where all the illegal immigrants eat and where they probably don't have kitchen sinks.
Anyway, have been eating these tacos for a year or so and never any problem until yesterday. They are actually quite good. But I think I picked up a low grade of food poisioning or ingested some fecal matter or something because I thought I was going to die last night. Barfing, dry heaving, ths shits, fever, headache--and at the peak the barfing and the shitting was happening at the same time. At one point I wondered if this is the sort of material that comes out of dead people because I had never seen anything like it or that maybe I was giving birth to an alien. :confused_ma: I have never, ever, been that sick before. My stomach hurts from the cramps last night. Had an apple today and some gatorade and that's it. Head is killing me and my ears are ringing. I am feeling better, but then I realized that food poisioning (or even the stomach flu if that's what this is) is not any fun. Anyway, it sucks. |

Yikes. Sounds like food poisoning if it was that violent and short term. Could have been stomach flu, but it would stand to reason that if the place you were eating is questionable that you would eventually get bitten. Does anyone know if one can build an immunity to such bugs that one might encounter at such a culinary establishment? That could lead to some good news for you at least...you could keep eating there - Glad you're feeling better... |
Re: Food Poisoning?
Yikes! Sounds like food poisoning. Been there, done that, so you have my sympathy. Poor doggie.:no_ma:

Re: Food Poisoning?
Violent is a good word choice. Nothing like that ever before in my life. Like stomach flu x 2.

Re: Food Poisoning?
When are you going to learn not to take any shit from Mexicans? Sorry, couldn't resist. Yep, sounds like a bad case of food poisoning.
|
Re: Food Poisoning?
Yep, that's food poisoning. I've had it twice. Wanted to die both times.
|
Re: Food Poisoning?
Keep the fluids going and take lots of vitamin C.
It is never fun when it is coming out of both ends simultaneously. The bathroom floor is usually the loser! |
Re: Food Poisoning?
Small price to pay to ensure a constant supply of cheap burrito's.

Re: Food Poisoning?
I had food poisoning once. Bad fish. The experience was just as you described.

Re: Food Poisoning?
Dog Farm, Im coming off a case of shigella.. I ended up having to take antibiotics, antispasmotics and phenergan to get mine under control. This stuff doesnt usually kill you but it sure makes you wish you were dead..
So has TSHTF officially yet? :bear_tongue: |
Re: Food Poisoning?
Don't worry, the more you eat with illegals, the more tolerant your digestive system will become of their unhygienic food preparation practices.
|
Re: Food Poisoning?
I had a similar experience from eating at a Subway sandwich shop a few years ago.
About 4-5 hours from eating till wishing I was dead. |
Re: Food Poisoning?
Sure why not blame it on those poor illegals, they're here doing the jobs we don't want to do (like making affordable burrrrrritos), mebe you can get one of um to clean up the shite mess you made in your kennel on the cheap.....they're partially responsible anyway.

Re: Food Poisoning?
Always keep a supply of activated carcoal around for times like these. And it doesn't have to be the fancy stuff like they use at the hospitals. I just grind-up "Cowboy" brand real hardwood charcoal. My mongrel hound will just chew on a piece of half burned wood from a campfire. Have heard that bentonite clay works real well too, for soaking up the toxins in your guts.

Re: Food Poisoning?
Yep, I had it twice. The first time I ate lunch at noon...fish with tartar sauce. It hit me around 10pm. I was in class taking a test and at 9pm started feeling the effects. Hallucinated during the test. I made it to 9:30 before leaving. Got out to my car and could hardly put in the key to open the door, I was shaking so bad.
After getting in the car, I put the seat back and thought it would pass if I just laid back for a few. Nope! Started shaking all over. Got the car started and made it the half mile home. Went inside and just made it to the bathroom. I didn't know whether to sit or kneel. At 2am I called the emergency room to ask "what's it like when you get food poisoning?" They described exactly the symptoms I was feeling. They said, "You're probably over the worst, just sip water to keep from dehydrating." It was all I could do to wet my tongue. Any more and I'd puke up that greenish looking stuff...bile. The easiest position was to lay on my back. It hurt like hell, but not as bad as either side. Then I felt this hairy thing coming up and decided I'd better swallow really hard. Phew! That was close! :D The next day I was shot. I worked for about two hours (copier repairman). I'd squat down to look at the inside of a machine and have to get up to run to the bathroom...just in case it was fluid drive. Finally, I went home and slept the rest of the day. The second time was taco hell. Never been back. It wasn't as bad as the first time though.... |

Keep in mind, though, that with some of these bugs you want to get them out of your gut as quickly as possible, so a toxin absorber and binder is going to be a better choice than the loperamide. And because of the similarity to aspirin you don't want to give Pepto to kids. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loperamide |
Re: Food Poisoning?
I had a nice chimichanga last weekend with all the fixins, tomatoes included. Woke up around 830 the next morning to let the dog out and get a drink of water and BOOOOOOM!!! Light-headed, dizzy, nauseated, felt as if I had a fever of 112 and buckets of sweat pouring off me. Mummbled for wife to help. She said I was whiter then common printer paper and soaking wet but felt ice cold (even though I thought I was on fire). I had her get more a glass of H2O while I crawled to the porecelin queen. 5minutes of violent regurgetation of the chimi and I was fine for the rest of the day. That afternoon I saw the story of the tomato problem on CNN. I chalked it up to that. Nasty stuff..

Re: Food Poisoning?
Seems to be going around these days! I had the same thing on Wed night. Was woken up by one of the never-ending storms and thought I was having a heart attack (well, not really, but my whole gut and chest ached, was lightheaded, nauseated, sweating, etc, etc). Spent the rest of the night on the toilet in one position or the other - and didn't make it to work Thursday. I heaved so hard my back still hurts 5 days later! Lol - it was insane. My wife made me some jello though - hadn't had that since I was a kid. :D
